Germany’s capital city, Berlin, is ranked as the sixth city in Europe for job satisfaction, with a rate of 83 per cent. The list of the top ten cities is completed by other European cities, including Geneva, Dortmund, Zurich, Aalborg, Malmo, and Hamburg, all with high job satisfaction rates.

The survey found that capital cities and other larger cities offer more employment opportunities and better paying conditions, making the well-being of residents more resilient and attractive for future workers. Overall, three out of four residents in the surveyed cities expressed satisfaction with their jobs.

While cities in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Czechia, and Slovakia had higher satisfaction levels, cities in Greece, Italy, Hungary, and Spain scored lower. Interestingly, the report noted that overall, capital cities do not perform better than non-capital cities in terms of job satisfaction.

The growing urban job markets contribute to individuals finding jobs they genuinely enjoy, potentially explaining the marginal differences between cities and the consistently higher satisfaction scores in urban areas compared to rural regions. Some cities, like Nicosia and Bologna, witnessed significant improvements, with a seven percentage point increase in job satisfaction, while others saw declines.

If you’re considering a job move to Europe, it’s worth considering the job satisfaction rates in different cities and regions. Luxembourg, Reykjavik, and Berlin may be great options if job satisfaction is an important factor for you.

So, if you’re looking to make a change and explore job opportunities in Europe, consider the job satisfaction ratings in different cities and regions. Luxembourg, Reykjavik, and Berlin may be great options if job satisfaction is a priority for you.
