Ghanaians can now travel visa-free to four new countries: São Tomé and Principe, Colombia, the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Mozambique.
The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs after Parliament unanimously approved the visa waiver agreements. These deals add to the recent visa-free access to Morocco, bringing the number of finalized waivers this year to five.
More agreements are in the pipeline, with ongoing negotiations expected to open up even more countries to Ghanaian travellers before the end of the year.
The Foreign Minister stated that the government is focused on enhancing the strength and value of the Ghanaian passport. “We want the Ghanaian passport to be one of the most respected travel documents in the world,” he said in a Facebook post.
He also noted that the government is stepping up passport security to prevent abuse by international criminal networks.
These new visa-free destinations offer fresh travel opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. As more agreements are secured, Ghanaian passport holders will enjoy wider global access without the usual visa hurdles.

I am grateful to Parliament for unanimously ratifying 4 Visa Waiver Agreements which I presented to the House earlier this week.
Visas are no longer required by Ghanaians to travel to São Tomé and Príncipe, Columbia, the Commonwealth of Dominica and Mozambique.
In addition to Morocco, 5 Visa Waiver Agreements have been finalized in the first half of this year.
More Visa Waiver Agreements are being negotiated for ratification this year.
The Mahama administration is determined to make the Ghanaian passport one of the most valuable and respected travel documents in the world.
We are also investing in rigorous enhanced security protocols to ensure international criminal gangs do not have access to our passports.
We shall keep working in your best interest.
For God and Country. 🇬🇭 🙏🏾
