British Airways Unveils Its Most Festive Christmas Yet: A Feast of Delights in the Skies and on the Ground

British Airways is ringing in the holiday season with its grandest Christmas celebration to date, offering a sleighful of festive delights for its customers. From London Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports to the aircraft at 35,000 feet, the airline is creating a winter wonderland for all those on the move.

Festive Decor and Treats at the Airports

The terminals at London Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports are adorned with festive check-in screens, Christmas décor, and seasonal tunes, setting the stage for a joyful journey. Passengers in British Airways lounges can indulge in bespoke Christmas menus, gingerbread, cookies, and mulled wine. The air is filled with a special festive scent featuring cinnamon and spices.

In partnership with Hotel Chocolat, British Airways is offering a hot chocolate winter warmer in its Concorde Room and a festive chocolate cream cocktail in its First lounge. A British Original artist will create a live winter wonderland masterpiece on the walkway between the main lounges in Heathrow Terminal 5, using ‘snow graffiti’ to depict a British skyline scene with snowy décor.

In-Flight Festivities

Boarding a British Airways flight during the festive period brings passengers into a world of holiday cheer. Specially designed festive headrest covers featuring the airline’s bespoke Christmas ribbon design adorn the seats. Farewell chocolates are handed out to all departing passengers.

On long-haul flights, passengers can enjoy traditional Christmas dinners served on festive-themed trays. The airline expects to serve an impressive 380,000 Christmas dinners, complete with over 600,000 Brussels sprouts and 8,000 Yule logs. A dedicated ‘Christmas countdown’ channel offers more than 1,500 hours of inflight entertainment, featuring 20 classic Christmas films and 50 TV Christmas specials. Festive-scented soap is available in the onboard restrooms.

As an exclusive gift for premium customers traveling on December 24 and 25, British Airways will present each passenger with a beautifully hand-painted, bespoke glass Christmas bauble.

A Christmas Campaign and Treats for All Passengers

Customers in Euro Traveller on short-haul flights can choose from a selection of festive treats available for purchase through the airline’s High Life Café. Options include Tom Kerridge’s turkey feast sandwich, Pullin’s Gingerbread Muffin, and LoveRaw’s vegan M:lk Choc Cre&m bar. Various Christmas drinks, including Black Cow’s Christmas Spirit vodka and Brewdog’s Elf lager, are also on offer.

The ‘Big Little Welcome’ campaign invites customers to submit welcome messages for loved ones. Selected messages will be displayed on billboards and airport screens at Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports from December 15 to 24.

Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, expressed excitement about spreading holiday cheer, making customers’ journeys as original and special as possible. The festive menus and celebrations will continue until January 4, 2024, ensuring a joyous holiday season for all British Airways passengers.
