Latvian airline AirBaltic has reported a significant increase in passenger numbers in 2023, with approximately 4.5 million passengers carried, representing a 36% increase from the previous year. The airline also operated over 44,000 flights, marking an 18% increase compared to 2022.

Martin Gaus, President and CEO of AirBaltic, expressed his excitement about the airline’s growth, highlighting the addition of over 100 direct routes from home cities Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria.

He stated, “At AirBaltic, our commitment extends beyond connecting the Baltics with the world, as we also aim to continuously enhance passenger experiences and make substantial contributions to the economy.”

In December 2023 alone, 339,300 passengers traveled with AirBaltic, marking an 18% increase compared to the same month in the previous year. The top destinations from Riga during this time were Dubai, Vienna, and Copenhagen, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Additionally, AirBaltic’s flights to Tenerife, Prague, London, and Frankfurt were popular routes from Riga. The airline has made significant contributions to the Riga International Airport in Latvia, carrying more than 50% of the total passengers and operating the most flights compared to other airlines.

However, amid the uncertainty in the current situation in Israel, AirBaltic has decided to suspend all flights to and from Tel Aviv, following a previous suspension in October 2023 after the Hamas attack on Israel. The airline remains in contact with national and international authorities and is prepared to adjust its flight schedule as needed.

The Latvian airline’s growth and resilience in the face of challenging circumstances demonstrate its commitment to providing excellent service and reliable connections for travelers.
