The results for the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery 2022 will be available online from May 8, 2021, the U.S Department of State has announced.
Persons who registered between October 7, 2020, and November 10, 2020, can check the status of their application from 1600 GMT May 8, 2021.
The DV Lottery grants 50,000 people green cards to live in the United States after randomly selected in a lottery despite it being very difficult to obtain visitor’s visas.
Winners are expected to have their own means of accommodation while in the United States and jobs are not automatically provided as part of the green card.
Results will only be available on the US Department of State website.
To check the results of your entry, you will need your confirmation number, year of birth, last name and pass a simple security check to prove you are human.

How to check 2022 DV Lottery results
- Visit the U.S Department of State website https://dvprogram.state.gov/
- Click CHECK STATUS and CONTINUE
- Enter your Confirmation Number (Example: 2022xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
- Enter Last Name or Family Name
- Enter Year of Birth
- Carefully look at the security code provided and enter it correctly
- Hit SUBMIT.
- The next page tells you if you have been selected for further processing or not.
The DV 2022 entrants are those that registered between October 7, 2020 and November 10, 2020. The US State Department will begin processing visas and conducting interviews for the eventual winners starting in October, 2021 (If COVID-19 permits), with those who pass the interviews, background checks and other qualifications such as high school education and/or work experience being granted permanent resident visas.
The Diversity Visa program, which is administered by the State Department, makes 50,000 permanent resident visas available annually to nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the United States over the previous five years.
