Passengers using Terminals 2 and 3 at Accra International Airport can now go through security without removing laptops, shoes, belts, and approved liquids from their bags.
Ghana Airports Company Limited has installed new security screening equipment at the airport’s passenger checkpoints.
With the new system, laptops and other large electronic devices can remain inside cabin bags during screening.
Passengers may also keep their shoes and belts on unless security officers request an extra check.
Liquids, aerosols, and gels can remain in cabin bags as well. The 100ml limit for each container still applies.
The airport has also introduced an Automatic Tray Return System. This will return trays more quickly and help reduce delays at the screening area.
The new equipment will be introduced in phases and will operate alongside the existing screening system for some time.
Ghana Airports Company Limited has asked passengers to cooperate with security officers as the new system takes effect.
