The 2026 edition of Ghana Party in the Park has teamed up with Shatta Movement to host Shattafest UK in London on August 1, 2026, at Copthall Playing Fields.
For many fans, this is not just a chance to support Shatta Wale, but also an opportunity to visit the UK, explore London, and enjoy some of the city’s popular tourist attractions.
However, visa requirements remain one of the biggest challenges for fans who wish to travel for the event. This guide explains how to apply for a UK Standard Visitor Visa for the trip.
Gather the Required Documents
The documents you need will depend on your personal, social, and financial circumstances. Below are some of the key documents to prepare.
Passport: Your passport must be valid for your intended travel. It is advisable to have at least six months’ validity beyond your planned stay.
Shattafest Ticket: Book your ticket for the show at https://gpitp.com.
Travel Itinerary: Prepare an itinerary showing how you intend to spend your days in the UK. Aside from Shattafest, include the tourist attractions, activities, and places you plan to visit.
Attraction Tickets: Many tourist attractions in London are free, but some require booking, even for free entry. If any attraction on your itinerary requires a ticket or reservation, make sure you secure it.
Accommodation: Make a hotel reservation if no one is hosting you. If someone will host you, the person should provide an invitation letter, a copy of their ID or residence document, and proof that they have enough space to accommodate you.
Flight Reservation: This does not have to be a paid flight ticket. It only has to show how you intend to travel to and from the UK.
Family Status: If you are married, include your marriage certificate. If you have children, include their birth certificates.
Employment Documents: Provide evidence of your work or source of income. If you are self-employed, include your business registration documents. If your business requires a licence to operate, include that as well. You should also add documents that show the business is active and not just registered on paper.
If you are employed, include your payslips for the last three to six months. If you have more than one source of income, provide documents for all of them.
Regardless of your employment type, include an introductory letter from your employer, institution, or business. If you are a student or apprentice, obtain this letter from your school or training provider.
Bank Statement: You must show that you are financially stable in Ghana and can afford the trip to the UK for the show and holiday. A bank statement covering the last three to six months is ideal. You may also include evidence of savings, investments, or other financial assets.
If you are a student or apprentice and someone is sponsoring your trip, include your sponsor’s bank statement, a copy of their ID, and a signed sponsorship letter.
Bonus Document: You may also include evidence of your support for Shatta Wale, such as photos from events you have attended or screenshots of relevant social media activity. This is not compulsory, but it can help support the purpose of your trip.
Apply for the Visa Online
After gathering your documents, visit https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/apply-standard-visitor-visa and follow the instructions to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa.
When completing the form, indicate that you are travelling for tourism and to attend the Ghana Party in the Park / Shattafest UK. Answer all questions honestly, submit the application, and pay the visa fee online.
Book Your Biometrics Appointment
After submitting the form and making payment, you will be redirected to the VFS website to book your biometrics appointment.
At this stage, you can either upload your documents yourself or pay VFS to upload them for you at the appointment centre. The assisted upload service comes at an additional cost.
If you choose to upload the documents yourself, scan them clearly and upload them to the VFS portal before your appointment date. On the day of your appointment, go with your passport.
Processing usually takes around 15 working days. UK Visas and Immigration will contact you if your application requires more time.
If your application is successful, respect the conditions of your visa. This protects your travel record and makes future applications easier for you and others.
If your application is refused and you disagree with the concerns raised by the visa officer, you may submit a new application that directly addresses those concerns.
Good luck!
