YEAR OF RETURN: Aburi Botanical Gardens to host African Culture and Wellness Festival

The Aburi Botanical Gardens will today February 9, 2019 host the African Culture and Wellness Festival (ACAWF) as part of the events lined up for the 2019 Ghana’s Year of Return.

The festival, which was launched on February 7, 2019 with a live radio broadcast of Mutabaruka’s radio show “Cutting Edge” on IRIE FM in Jamaica and XLIVE FM in Ghana, was kick-started early morning today with a health walk challenge from the Ayi Mensah Police Station to the Aburi Gardens.

ACAWF has an African Market Place, an exhibition where Cultural Arts, Books, Music, and Fashion are displayed. The Healers Village at the Festival provides participants with healing services like massage, reflexology and Reiki.

The will hold series of workshops with focus on fitness through African drum and dance, African martial arts, Afrobics, and yoga, complimented with Wellness presentations that brings a wealth of information on healthy lifestyles with nutrition, emotional healing, life management, meditation, food therapy, natural hair and skin care, culture, history, and arts instructed by master teachers, wellness experts and artist from various parts of Africa and the Diasporas.

The ACAWF will be climaxed with a regeneration concert where local and international artists including poet, singer, writer, and actor from Jamaica, Mutabaruka.

This festival was created by Dr. SharitaYazid, Naturopath, New Body Products Ghana Chief Operating Officer and a repatriate to Africa.

A group of natural healers, master African dance/drum instructors and fitness experts were consulted to help create this festival to deliver a sound platform for years to come.
