Most Ghanaians think one needs over GHS 20,000 to be able to pay for a visa and travel ticket for their dream vacation abroad. It’s totally not so.

Countries and the cost of Visa and Air Ticket:
South Africa – GHS 2,897

United Kingdom – GHS 4,154
The UK is one of the cheapest destinations one could travel to from Ghana. Visa application fee is GHS 694 (USD 128. Additional charges may apply depending how other premium or assisted services chosen). Brussels Airline flies passengers on the proposed dates for only GH¢3,460. With just GHS 4,154, you could see yourself touring the Buckingham Palace.

Europe/Schengen States – GHS 4,779
Schengen tourist visa costs EUR60, however, some embassies use the services of VFS Global which come with extra charges. The Netherlands, Spain and Italy are some of the countries that employ the services of VFS. Using the Netherlands as an example, VFS charges GHS 170 and Visa Fee is GHS 337. See updated Visa fees HERE. Turkish Airlines is the cheapest on the route on our chosen dates. Ticket costs GHS 4,122. Travel Insurance is required for travels to the schengen area. Most insurance companies charge approximately GHS 150 for a two-week insurance cover. In all, one needs GHS 4,779 to be in the Netherlands.
UAE (Dubai) – GHS 3,788
Dubai is usually cheaper to visit when you join a group. Most tour companies offer discounts on their tour packages. However if you want to do everything on your own, Visa Fee is GHS 490 and Kenya Airways will carry you for just GHS 3,298.
Canada – GHS 8,810

United States – GHS 5,753
Did you hear somewhere you need so much money to visit the United States? NO! That isn’t so. Though it might be difficult obtaining visa, you need far less than GHS 10,000 to walk in the streets of New York. The fare on Emirates is GHS 4,905 while the embassy charges GHS 848.00 as Visa fees. China – GHS 6,070
China is cheaper on KLM at GHS 4,475 but getting a transit visa to travel on KLM could be worrying and disappointing. So travelers just choose the next option; Ethiopian Airlines for GHS 5,801. Visa Fee is $50 (GHS 269). For updated visa fees, see HERE.
Kenya – GHS 3,136
Kenya is Visa Free. Ticket on Ethiopian Airlines is GHS 3,136.
Rwanda – GHS 2,457
Rwanda too is Visa Free. Ethiopian Airlines carries passengers for as low as GHS 2,457.
India – GHS 4,521
Ghanaians can obtain eVisas for $80 (GHS 424). Ticket on Ethiopian Airlines costs GHS 4,097.
Malaysia – GHS 5,674

Singapore – GHS 6,076
Singapore is Visa Free. You only grab your air ticket. It’s GHS 6,076 on Emirates.
