Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Geneva Academy Scholarship are as follows:

Language Requirements
For the Geneva Academy Scholarship, applicants must have a strong command of English. Proficiency can be demonstrated through a recognized language test, with exceptions for native English speakers, those with an English-taught bachelor’s or master’s degree, or those with at least two years of experience in an English-speaking academic or professional setting. Additionally, while not mandatory, a basic understanding of French is advantageous, as certain aspects of the course may include French language components.

Educational Background
A full law degree that enables you to sit the bar exam in your country, received by June at the latest. Alternatively, a degree in another field may be acceptable if you have significant training in public international law and courses related to the program (like international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law).

Demonstrable Interest
You should have a demonstrable interest in the subject matter of the program. This can be shown through professional experience, internships, summer schools, attendance at conferences, publications, etc.

Subjects Offered by the Academy of Geneva
This scholarship offered by Geneva Academy is not just any financial aid; it’s a fully-funded gateway for qualified international students, especially those from non-western countries. It covers not just tuition fees but also living expenses in Geneva, ensuring that financial constraints don’t hinder your educational journey.

The Master of Advanced Studies in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (LLM) at Geneva Academy is a one-year postgraduate course. It’s a comprehensive program offering practical training in international human rights law (IHRL), international humanitarian law (IHL), international refugee law, and international criminal law.

Scholarship Details: For Non-Western Students
Full scholarships for citizens of non-western countries (details on the eligible countries list)
Covers tuition fees and living expenses for 10 months
For EU Students: Partial scholarships are available
