Ever since the Diversity Visa program, also known as the Green Card lottery got introduced in 1990, hundreds of thousands have taken advantage of the program to change location, jobs and better their lives.
Even though the rules for applying for the lottery have been spelt out, many are still confused with the requirements.
Concerning educational qualifications, one doesn’t need the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate to win the lottery, however, you need a pass in English Language and Mathematics in your WASSCE/SSSCE or equivalent, depending on the year you completed secondary school. Without the passes, you won’t be able to get the visa even when you win.
It is imperative to note that there are a group of people who may not have passed their examinations but meet the job requirements as is stipulated, those with such prerequisites could also get their visas.
This is because one’s employability might not only depend on the level of education but also the kind of skills acquired in certain fields as may meet the job market and benefit the USA economy.

Concerning job requirements too, not every job per se might qualify you for the visa, it is, therefore, your sole responsibility to cross-check if your job is listed as a qualifying one before applying for the visa lottery.
So entering the lotto has no requirement, winning has no requirement, but getting the visa has a requirement.
