When it comes to entertainment especially in the world of music, Ghana is a big name and one of the most influential countries on the African continent. The people of Ghana love their music and have rightly so produced some of the finest musicians and musical bands in history. Names like Osibisa and Rocky Dawuni are household names and known to people living in other parts of the world. Our love for music is mostly manifested in the numerous concerts held in the country throughout the year, as they have become a big part of our lifestyle and culture with people filling these concerts to have a good time come rain or sunshine. Jetsanza.com takes a look at the top ten musical concerts in Ghana.

Ghana Meets Naija

Ghana Meets Naija is the brainchild of media mogul and CEO of EIB Group, Bola Ray. He organized the first edition almost a decade ago and since then, the concert has grown in stature and reputation as the finest musical concert in Ghana. The format of the event is simply pairing Nigerian music superstars against their Ghanaian counterparts for a showdown. It is held in Accra every year in the month of June.

Rapperholic

Not much needs to be said about this concert as it is already a household name in Ghana. The Rapperholic Concert is organized by rapper Sarkodie and held in the month of December every year as an end of year concert for fans of the rap god. Ever since the first edition was held in 2012, Sarkodie has not looked back with the event getting bigger and bigger each and attracting some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry across the world.

M.anifestivities

M.anifestivities is organized by rapper M.anifest and has been one of the best organized and attended concerts in Ghana for the last couple of years. After the 2018 edition which was held in December, the rapper received a lot of praises and compliments from the public for putting together a wonderful show which many believed was among the best concerts of the year.

Ashaiman to the World

Ashaiman to the world is the brainchild of Dancehall artist, Steven Satleka, known in showbiz as Stonebwoy. The event began three years ago at the Sakora Park in the Ashaiman vicinity and has since then become an annual event which is attended by nothing less than ten thousand people, mostly from within the Ashaiman community.

Adom Praiz

Adom Praiz is a gospel music concert with a focus on thanking the Lord for his goodness and protection throughout the year and is mostly attended by the Christian community. With not many gospel music concerts in Ghana, Adom Praiz has undoubtedly risen to the occasion to carry the mantle for the Christian fraternity when it comes to musical concerts.

December2Remember

December2Remember is another top concert Ghanaians look forward to at the beginning of every year. The event is organized by Citi FM as an end of year party for their cherished listeners and usually graced by top musicians in the country and attended by the big names in the media space.

The Reign Concert

The Reign Concert is a one-man show held by controversial dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah popularly known as Shatta Wale. The first edition was held in 2018 as the official concert to launch his REIGN ALBUM and it was an instant hit, recording a record-breaking attendance with the number believed to be in the 20,000s. He followed up on the success of the concert and held another one in 2019, which was also very successful and well patronized. He recently revealed the concert is going to become an annual event held every year and from all indication, it is going be a strong competitor for other musical concerts.

VGMA

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is not exactly a musical concert as it is more of an award scheme but nevertheless has musical performances hence can be classified as a musical concert. It is the single most important music event in Ghana and one of the finest and best in West Africa. Usually held in the month of April or May, the VGMA brings together all the music stars in Ghana under one umbrella with the aim of rewarding them for their hard work while the artists also put together memorable performances to thrill patrons.

This is Tema

This is Tema is an annual concert by Rapper Sarkodie to celebrate Tema’s music. Tema stands tall when it comes to music. The maiden edition was held this year 2019 with over 100,000 people in attendance. Sarkodie headlined the maiden edition and announced that a different artistes from Tema would be headlining subsequent editions.

Saminifest

Veteran dancehall artiste, Samini also holds his own show titled Saminifest every year. While the show may not be as huge as some of the concerts on this list, Saminifest has earned the right to be listed due to its consistency and ability to attract people from all corners of Ghana. Saminifest usually sees a blend of the old, the young and even visiting tourists and foreigners attending the concert making it one of the most diverse music concerts in Ghana.
