Update Affects Mileage and Elite Mile Accrual on Flights with Non-SkyTeam Partners
In an effort to keep its members informed and up-to-date, Flying Blue, the frequent flyer program of Air France-KLM, is introducing amendments to its program rules pertaining to mileage and XP (Experience Points) accrual on flights with partner airlines.
Effective from the 1st of April 2024, XP and Elite bonuses will no longer be allocated on flights marketed and operated by non-SkyTeam airline partners. It is essential for members to note that they will continue to earn Miles and XP on flights that are both marketed and operated by all SkyTeam partners. This includes Flying Blue participating carriers, Transavia and Aircalin. In addition, XP and Elite bonuses will remain applicable for flights marketed as Air Corsica (XK) and operated by either Air Corsica or Air France, specifically on routes between Paris-Orly and Corsica airports, which include Bastia, Figari, Ajaccio, and Calvi.
The ruling does not alter the eligibility for XP and Elite bonuses on flights marketed and/or operated by Air France and/or KLM. Even when these flights are operated by airline partners that do not belong to the SkyTeam alliance, members will still receive XP and Elite bonuses.
The changes taking effect in April 2024 will mean that Flying Blue members will no longer earn XP and Elite bonuses on flights with the following non-SkyTeam partner airlines:
- Air Mauritius
- Chalair
- China Southern Airlines
- COPA Airlines
- GOL
- Japan Airlines
- Malaysia Airlines
- Qantas
- Twin Jet
- WestJet
However, the new regulations do not affect flights with Air France, KLM, Aircalin, Transavia (valid only on Plus and Max fares), and Air Corsica. Members can still accrue XP and Elite bonuses when flying with these airlines. Moreover, codeshare flights marketed by Air France or KLM, denoted by flight numbers beginning with AF or KL, will maintain their eligibility for XP and Elite bonuses, even if the flights are operated by airline partners outside the SkyTeam alliance.
For members who have already purchased tickets with a travel date falling after the 1st of April 2024, the new rules will apply. They will no longer receive XP and Elite bonuses on their flights. Conversely, those who have tickets for flights occurring before this date will still enjoy the current benefits. The existing rules will be in place for these flights, allowing them to earn XP and Elite bonuses on eligible flights with Air France, KLM, and their partner airlines.
Flying Blue encourages its members to stay informed and stay updated with the program’s latest developments to ensure they make the most of their membership and rewards.
