Schengen Visa fee goes up; other positive changes go into effect from February 2, 2020

Schengen visa application fees are going up, and applicants are to pay 80 euros Starting from Monday, February 2, 2020.

For so many years, the visa fee for Schengen short-stay visas have stood at 60 euros.

The EU Council adopted the new policy in June 2019, and all Schengen Member States are to oblige.

“Since Regulation (EU) 2019/1155 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 amending Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code) is binding in its entirety, and is directly applicable in all EU Member States in accordance with the Treaties, all Schengen countries, including Lithuania, will apply it from 2 February 2020,” an official from the Information Monitoring and Media Division of Lithuania explained to schengenvisainfo.com.

When the new rules take effect, travellers would be able to submit their applications up to six months before their intended travel dates instead of the existing three months. Frequent travellers with good travel history would be receiving long-validity multiple-entry visas.
