After all is said and done, are you wondering why you should visit Krabi as a tourist? Well, there are so many reasons and here are a few which can make Krabi your best-toured city yet.

Maya Bay

The Maya Bay is one of the most beautiful natural scenery in Thailand, located off the coast of Krabi, and found on the Phi Phi Islands. The bay boasts of a world’s class beach with a unique white-sandy shore that is naturally sheltered by limestone cliffs. The bay rose to Prominence in 2000 after the famous movie The Beach was shot at the location. Since then it has become one of the most visited bays in the world, with over two million tourists visiting each year. Tourists who intend to visit the Maya Bay can only do so, on a boat since it is located on an island off the coast of Krabi, the mainland. Aside from the amazing beach, Maya Bay also boasts of beautiful clear waters that are home to the world’s most exotic fishes. Tourists can order for a boat ride on the water and be taken around the bay. There is never a dull moment on Maya Bay, a mini paradise, full of nature and devoid of the technologies, and pollutions of the modern world.

Koh Panyi Muslim Village

The small Muslim village of Koh Panyi is located just an hour drive from Krabi and is regarded as one of the busiest tourist destinations in Thailand. But what makes the village so renowned and famous? Poh Panyi village is built on silt and sits right on top of a large water body, making it one of the few floating villages in the world, with another one located in Ghana, a small country in West Africa. The population of the village runs into thousands with the main occupation being fishing. Surprisingly the village has modest schools and very good restaurants which serve mostly see foods. There are tour agencies in Krabi who organize bus tours to the village every day and it not difficult to find one and join as they embark on the short trip to the amazing floating village which lies just an hour drive away from Krabi.

Wat Khong Museum

The Wat Khlong Museum is another destination one must not miss when in Krabi. The Museum is one of Krabi’s most historic places, keeping records of historical artefacts, some of which are as old as 5000 years. Most of the artefacts were obtained through archaeological excavation to unearth monumental evidence that could help enrich the history of the people. The majority of these artefacts include tools made from bronze, stone ornaments believed to have been worn by the rich and royals as well as glass beads. For tourists who would like to visit the museum, it is located in the eastern part of Thailand, in the Khlong Thom district off the Phetchakasem highway and is open to the public during the day time, usually from 8am to 5pm.

Ao Luk

Ao Luk is a place for the brave and adventurous, a place where people go to experience the wild part of nature and be secluded from the modern world of technology and artificial intelligence. Located north of Krabi, Ao Luk jungle provides tourist with an opportunity to witness some of nature’s most amazing works such as waterfalls, caves and ponds as well as many wildlife animals. The jungle also has a stream that runs through the jungle, making it possible for tourists to ride through the forest on a canoes paddled by tour guides. The jungle also has a special area known as Tree Top Adventure Park where tourists can climb trees, take a walk on high up canopy walkways and also swing from one tree to another. For the adventurous Ao Luk is the ultimate destination to visit if you find yourself in Krabi.

Tiger Cave Temple

The Tiger Cave Temple is located in the north-eastern part of Krabi. The renowned Buddhist temple is known for its tall statues, tiger claw prints found in the case of the temple and a long strenuous staircase which must be scaled to get to the summit of the temple. The history of the temple dates back to 1975 when a Buddhist monk by name Phetchakasem went to the cave to pray only to discover the tiger claw prints on the walls on the cave.  This discovery partly led to the construction of the temple on the cave as the monks came to regard the cave as a sacred prayer grounds for Buddhists especially the monks. Beside the temple, there are other minor caves found on the Kiriwong Valley (the exact location of the temple). Some of them include Tum Luk, Tum Lod and Tum Khon Khan. The temple and entire area is opened to visitors who would want to go and learn a few things about Buddhism, the history of the temple or just visit there for site seeing.

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang arguably has one the best beaches and resort in Krabi. The small town with a population of just over ten thousand people is well known for its beautiful beach known simply as Ao Nang Beach. Every year, the town receives over a million tourists from other countries, who visit the town purposely to enjoy the scenery and wonderful beach is offers. To complement the amazing beaches, Ao Nang also has some amazing resorts and guest houses for tourists who intend to spend a few days in the town to enjoy life on the beach. While the beach of Ao Nang has grown to become a household name in the tourism sector, the town of Ao Nang itself remains relatively reserved and quiet, with the local people seen as calm and laidback. For tourists who love to live by the sea and experience the breathtaking air and breeze of the sea, Ao Nang is a good option.

The Railay Beach, Ko Lanta Yai, the Mu Koh Lanta Marine National Park, there simply so many things to do and places to visit in Krabi that you have no excuse to miss out on these places if you are in Krabi as a visitor or even a resident. Draw your schedule, decide on the time and visit any of these attractions to do things you love, whether swimming on the amazing beach of Ao Nang or climbing trees and walking on canopy walkways in the Ao Luk jungle.
