Calling all young individuals looking for work and cultural experience in Canada! The International Experience Canada (IEC) program has officially reopened its pool for the 2024 intake. This means that close to 90,000 applicants from over 30 countries will have the opportunity to temporarily reside and work in Canada.
The IEC program is a work permit program that allows youth who are citizens of countries with bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangements with Canada to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Eligible participants can now submit their IEC profiles to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Under this program, applicants may receive a work permit under one of three streams: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op Internship. Each stream caters to different types of work experience and provides opportunities for engagement with Canadian employers and companies.
To be eligible for the IEC program, applicants must meet basic requirements such as being a citizen/passport holder of a partner country, having a valid passport for the duration of their stay in Canada, and having the equivalent of $2,500 CAD upon landing in Canada, among others.
The IEC program is not only beneficial for the participants but also for Canada itself. It helps address labor shortages in various industries while giving young individuals the chance to gain international work experience. Additionally, participants may become eligible to immigrate permanently to Canada after gaining the requisite amount of work experience, potentially adding to Canada’s labor force long-term.
So if you’re a young individual interested in gaining work experience in Canada, check out the IEC program and discover the possibilities of Canadian immigration. Now is your chance to explore new opportunities and grow your career on Canadian soil.
