The Diversity Visa Lottery 2024 will grant 55,000 people green cards or permanent US residency to live in the United States after being randomly selected in a computerized draw.

DV 2024 Eligibility

Persons registering for the DV 2024 must meet two major requirements to be eligible to participate in the program.

1. Country of citizenship

You are eligible to participate in DV 2024 if you are not a national of one of these countries:

  1. Bangladesh
  2. Brazil
  3. Canada
  4. China (including Hong Kong SAR) – Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible
  5. Colombia
  6. Dominican Republic
  7. El Salvador
  8. Haiti
  9. Honduras
  10. India
  11. Jamaica
  12. Mexico
  13. Nigeria
  14. Pakistan
  15. Philippines
  16. Republic of Korea (South Korea)
  17. United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories

Natives of the above countries are not eligible to apply because more than 50,000 natives of these countries have immigrated to the United States in the past five years. If you are from one of the ineligible countries but married to someone from an eligible country, you qualify to register under your spouse as a family member.

2. Education/Work Experience requirement

Participants of DV 2024 must meet either educational or work experience requirements. It’s okay to meet both requirements but you are expected to meet at least one of them.

Education: Applicants must have completed high school education or its equivalent with a pass in English and Mathematics.

Work Experience: Applicants must have two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.

How to register for DV 2024

Participants for DV 2024 can submit an entry by filling out the Diversity Visa Entry Form (DS-5501) on the registration website https://dvprogram.state.gov/.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the forms with your personal details, and family information (if any), and submit your digital photograph.

If you are married and/or have children at the time of submitting the entry form, include the names of your spouse and/or children in your entry. You won’t be able to include your children who were born at the time of submitting the entry at a later date.

Print the confirmation that appears after submitting the entry and keep it until September 2024.

DV 2023 Update

The KCC has started processing applications for winners of DV 2023. At the time of writing, winners in Africa with case numbers up to 5700 were current and scheduled for an interview.

DV 2022

Processing for DV 2022 officially ends on September 30, 2022. If you have not been able to obtain a visa for yourself and your family members, you cannot do so after September 30, 2022.

DV 2020 and DV 2021

Winners of DV 2020 and 2021 were affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 and as such could not process their applications. The two batches are still in court battling with the US government to have their applications processed.
