Temporary passports are issued in cases where travelers lose or forget their passport or ID card, or their passport is stolen. The document can be received at the Passport Point within the Warsaw Chopin Airport. Applicants are required to present a valid airline ticket during the application submission. The cost for a temporary passport at this location is approximately seven euro.
Thanks to the Passport Document Register, the application for a temporary passport is now generated electronically and then signed on a signature affixing device, as stated by The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.
The passport point provides services from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 20:00, and is located within the Terminal A public area at the Warsaw Airport. There is also an Info Kiosk for individuals who need information about temporary passports.
According to VisaGuide.World Passport Index, the Polish passport is ranked as the 20th most powerful passport in the world, allowing Polish passport holders to travel without a visa to 101 countries and passport-free to 43 countries. However, they are required to obtain a traditional visa in 20 countries, a visa on arrival in 30 countries and an e-visa in another 22 countries.
The Ministry also revealed that, due to services provided at the passport point, they successfully facilitated various individuals during their special occasions, including parents receiving a journey as a birthday gift, and also another person being able to travel for the defense of a doctoral thesis. Temporary passports were also granted to parents who could attend their daughter’s wedding and to a couple embarking on their honeymoon.
