Swaziland is a visa-free country for holders of Ghanaian passports. Citizens of Ghana are exempted from visa requirements when travelling to Swaziland. The country adds up to the over 60 countries that Ghanaians can travel to without a visa.
How long can a Ghanaian stay in Swaziland without a visa?
Ghanaians can stay in Swaziland for a period of up to 30 days without a visa.
Other Immigration requirements when travelling to a visa-free country
Return or Onward Ticket
Ghanaians travelling to Swaziland must hold a return or onward ticket. Persons holding one-way tickets may be denied entry.
Cash
Travellers should carry cash enough to cover their stay in the country. The amount of money you are to carry depends on the cost of living of the country you are visiting. A budget of $50 – $100 daily is recommended.
Accommodation
Immigration officers may want to know where you intend to stay. Aside from that, you are required to provide details of your accommodation when completing a landing card. Travellers travelling to visa-free countries are urged to make accommodation arrangements in advance and print the booking confirmation to show when they report to an immigration officer.
Tourist Voucher
Holding a tourist voucher or confirmation of tour package booked is not a requirement but could facilitate entry into a visa-free country upon arrival at the border.
The International Certificate of Vaccination
Ghanaians are required to carry The International Certificate of Vaccination, otherwise known as Yellow Card, when travelling. Ghana is among the countries at risk of Yellow fever transmission and as such a certificate to show a vaccination against the disease is required by Ghanaians.
Check Period of stay permitted
Taking note of the period of stay allowed as mentioned above is very important. Visa-free doesn’t mean stay forever. Staying beyond the period permitted is illegal and persons who overstay may be prosecuted, fined, or forcibly removed.
Flights from Ghana to Swaziland
There are no flights from Accra, Ghana to Eswatini. The only airline that operates flight to the country is Airlink which flies from Johannesburg’s O.R Tambo Airport. So Ghanaians travelling to Swaziland should first get to South Africa and Airlink. A South Africa double-entry visa is required. In such case, you can even travel to Swaziland by land from South Africa.
