The Australian Migration Trends Report revealed that a total of 21,525 grants, representing 9.6% of all Working Holiday Maker visas, were issued between 2022 and 2023. The top three countries, the United Kingdom, France, and Ireland, accounted for 38.6% of all Working Holiday Maker visas during this period.
The issuance of Working Holiday Maker visas saw a significant surge in the 2022–23 period, with some nationalities experiencing substantial increases. The United Kingdom, France, Ireland, and Taiwan all saw significant increases in the number of visas issued.
However, there was a decrease in the total number of Working Holiday Maker visas granted compared to a decade earlier. Despite this, there was a notable increase in Work and Holiday visas granted during the same period.
In the fiscal year 2022–23, a total of 51,605 visas were granted to primary applicants, with India, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom being the top three countries with the highest number of visas granted. The growth in the number of visas granted was primarily driven by nationals from the Philippines, India, and the United Kingdom.
Overall, the report highlights the changing trends in Working Holiday Maker visas and the shifting demographics of visa recipients.
