Mauritania has implemented a new electronic visa (e-visa) system effective January 5, 2025, requiring all travelers to obtain their visa online before boarding flights bound for the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad announced in a formal communication.
According to the statement, this move is part of Mauritania’s efforts to streamline immigration procedures and ensure efficient processing for international visitors. All applications for the e-visa must be completed exclusively through the official website of the National Agency for the Registry of Populations and Secured Titles (www.anrpts.gov.mr).
The government urges prospective travelers to plan and complete the online visa application well before their travel dates to avoid disruptions. Diplomatic missions, consular offices, and international organizations accredited in Nouakchott have also been informed of the new policy and advised to communicate this update to relevant parties.
This initiative is expected to enhance Mauritania’s border management and facilitate a smoother entry process for travelers while aligning with global trends in digital visa services.
Travelers are directed to visit the official portal (www.anrpts.gov.mr) for detailed instructions and to begin the application process.
