Cornell University, in collaboration with Africa Tourism Partners (ATP), is extending an exclusive opportunity for women in executive and leadership roles to enroll in their two-and-a-half-month online Executive Women in Leadership and Women in Leadership certificate programs.
Delivered through Cornell University’s eCornell platform, this initiative aims to drive inclusivity for women across the African travel, tourism, and hospitality value chain. It is a direct outcome of the annual Africa Tourism Leadership Forum held in Botswana in 2022 and 2023 and is a pivotal element of the Africa Tourism Innovation Hub initiative championed by Africa Tourism Partners and key stakeholders.
The program’s overarching goal is to nurture leadership and professional growth for women in executive and management positions. Participants are eligible for an exclusive 90% discount on the standard program fees, a gesture facilitated by the strategic partnership between the University and Africa Tourism Partners. This unique collaboration is dedicated to the professional and executive development of African women in leadership and management roles.
Upon program completion, participants will receive the Executive Women in Leadership or Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University, along with 50 Professional Development Credits (PDCs). The inaugural cohort, scheduled to commence in December 2023 and January 2024, is limited to 35 participants per program.
Core courses for the certificate program cover crucial topics such as Power and Gender Dynamics, Developing Executive Presence for Women Leaders, Gender Bias and Negotiation Strategies, and The Network Effect. Additionally, participants can choose one elective course from options like Decoding the Gender Gap in Board Membership, Fostering an Inclusive Climate, and Becoming a Strategic Leader.
Cornell University boasts over 290 online professional development certificate programs and courses, designed for executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and start-ups across diverse disciplines such as Leadership and Strategic Management, Finance and Business Performance, Business Strategy, Hospitality and Food Service Management, Data Science, Finance & Business, Hospitality Management, Marketing, and Technology.
