No, it is not safe and travellers should avoid travelling to the Dominican Republic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice for the Dominican Republic due to COVID-19, indicating a very high level of COVID-19 in the country.
What are the covid-19 guidelines for travel to the Dominican Republic?
- All travellers are no longer required to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test nor undergo quarantine upon arrival. Instead, aleatory breath tests will be administered to between 3-15 percent of travellers arriving at airports or other ports of entry.
However, children under the age of five and flight crew members are exempted from the tests.
- All passengers arriving in the Dominican Republic will also need to perform a temperature check, with anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test being required to isolate at authorized locations.
- Travellers entering or leaving the Dominican Republic on commercial flights must complete the electronic entry and exit form, with the use of mandatory digital formats and no other method of providing the required information being permitted.
