Bulgaria Continues to Attract Polish Tourists
The Minister of Tourism in Bulgaria, Zaritsa Dinkova, recently revealed that between January and September 2022, over 250,000 Polish nationals visited Bulgaria. This number represents a significant increase in Polish tourists visiting the country, with a 19.4% growth in the first eight months of 2023.
In an interview with the Polish media, Minister Dinkova expressed her expectation that the number of Polish tourists visiting Bulgaria will reach pre-pandemic levels in the coming year. She emphasized the potential for cultural, culinary, and natural tourism between the two countries.
The majority of Polish tourists visit Bulgaria for summer holidays, with popular destinations including Nesebar with Sunny Beach and the Varna region. Minister Dinkova also revealed plans to attract Polish tourists to the spa and wellness sector, highlighting Bulgaria’s position as the second-highest in Europe for mineral water sources.
Addressing Bulgaria’s tourism challenges, Minister Dinkova emphasized the priority of enhancing product quality, efficient advertising, and creating better working conditions for entrepreneurs. She also highlighted the country’s goal of providing a wide range of tourism services for both budget and high-end travelers.
Overall, Bulgaria’s tourism industry is growing and becoming an important contributor to the country’s economy. It is projected that by 2033, ten percent of Bulgaria’s economy will be supported by the travel and tourism sector. Additionally, Bulgaria has been chosen as a “Preferred Destination” for 2024 by the European Associations of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ECTAA).
With its diverse offerings and strong focus on improving the tourism experience, Bulgaria continues to be an attractive destination for Polish tourists and travelers from around the world.
