This year’s Africa Sports Tourism Week is scheduled for September 18-24 in Accra, Ghana.
Accra has been selected to host the second edition of the Africa Sports Tourism Week after the maiden edition was held in Lagos, Nigeria, last year.
The Pan-African event and platform seeks to fuse Tourism and Sports to project the continent with the various tourist attractions and Sports activities.
Ghana was selected to host this year’s event after the county’s enormous achievements in Sports coupled with the exciting tourist attractions in the country.
“Having thoroughly deliberated over the matter, the executive committee have chosen to bestow on the Republic of Ghana the hosting right for 2019 edition,” CEO of African Sports Tourism Week Deji Ajomale-McWord said.
“Our plan for this year aligns with the ‘Year of Return’ campaign celebrating 400 years post-slavery era in Ghana.
“Some of the leading names on professional golf tours in the region are from Ghana. Their national football team is one of the most successful and their local football league is one of the most vibrant in the region,” he added.
“Ghana is gradually positioning as the next adventure sports destinations in Africa, with the paragliding culture permeating the millennial travel market,” he concluded.
This year’s Africa Sports Tourism week is expected to be attended by tourism boards, tour operators, travel agents, Sports Commissions, Sports Associations, Sports ministries across the continent, and of course your number one Travel Blogger Akesse Sanza.
