The Indonesian province of Bali has decided to put in place restrictions for travellers coming in due to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country since last year.
The Indonesian borders have remained closed since last year to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of its residents.
Is Bali Open For Tourists?
Bali is currently not open to foreign tourists but the Government of Indonesia is planning to reopen Bali province to foreign tourists in July.
However, legal residents (KITAS or KITAP) are allowed to enter the country at the moment. Foreign internationals are accepted only under specific circumstances, but tourism is not one of them.

Do you need a PCR test to enter Bali?
Yes, a negative PCR test done a maximum of 48 hours prior to entering the country is mandatory for those with a right to entry.
Quarantine restrictions in Bali
All travellers who enter the country must self-isolate for 14 days.
- Upon arrival in Indonesia, passengers must take another COVID‑19 PCR test. Indonesian citizens with a negative test result may proceed to a mandatory 5‑day quarantine at a government facility at no cost. Foreigners must proceed to a 5‑day quarantine at a hotel approved by the Indonesian government at their own expense.
- Another COVID‑19 PCR test will be conducted after the 5‑day quarantine. If the result is negative, Indonesian citizens and foreigners will be allowed to continue on their journey and suggested to do self‑quarantine for 14 days.
- Passengers who test positive for COVID‑19 on arrival or after the 5‑day quarantine will be directed to a hospital for treatment. Hospital expenses for Indonesian citizens will be shouldered by the government while foreigners must bear the expenses themselves.
- Foreigners and Indonesians arriving from Pakistan and the Philippines are required to quarantine for 14 days and must take an additional COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test on arrival followed by another COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test on the 14th day of quarantine.
Which countries are banned from entering Bali?
No country is actually banned from entering Bali, however, the borders remain closed to travellers from across the globe.
