Ghana and Malta have signed a visa waiver agreement allowing nationals of both countries to visit the other without entry visas, according to multiple reports.
Jetsanza.com however cannot confirm the authencity of these reports but Ghanaweb, Peacefmonline, Dailyguidenetwork and others have said that such agreement has been signed.
According to the reports, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and the Maltese Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion, Carmelo Abela, signed on behalf of Ghana and Malta respectively at a signing ceremony at the Grand Master Palace in the city of Valletta, Malta.
The reports added that the two countries have also signed an Air Service agreement that will see Malta’s flag carrier fly direct to Ghana; the first of the Maltese carrier, Air Malta, to a Sub-Saharan nation.
These deals come on the sidelines of President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the country.
The date that the agreements take effect has not yet been communicated to the media.
Malta is a member of the Schengen States and Jetsanza.com doubts the authenticity of these reports.
