The notice also added that processing fees remain the same until further notice.

“Missions are hereby informed that government has decided to extend the validity of ordinary passport booklets issued to qualified Ghanaian applicants from five years to ten years (5-10 years) with effect from 31st March 2019. The processing fees remain the same until further notice.” The notice stated.

Letter to Ghana Missions

Ghanaian passports used to be valid for 10 years until the recent introduction of the ECOWAS Passports which forced member states to issue them for a period of 5 years.

Last Month, Nigeria introduced a new passport with enhanced security features after it extended its validity from 5 to 10 years.

Jetsanza.com however has not established if the new 10-year validity passports would be produced under poly-carbonate technology to be weather friendly with no room for damages as the present passport booklet not strong enough to last for 10 years.
