Ghanaian broadcaster and tourism advocate Abeiku Santana has been appointed Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The celebrated media personality confirmed his new role in an announcement on social media, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Ghana’s tourism development.
In a heartfelt message on his Instagram page on Friday, February 28, 2025, Santana thanked President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with this responsibility.
“Thank you, Your Excellency Mr. President John Dramani Mahama. I am deeply honored and profoundly grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in me by appointing me as the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority,” he stated.
Abeiku Santana has spent years promoting tourism in Ghana. As the CEO of Kaya Tours Ghana Limited, he has played a significant role in championing domestic and international tourism, highlighting Ghana’s rich culture, heritage, and travel experiences. His expertise in media and tourism advocacy makes him a valuable addition to the GTA’s leadership.
He will serve as deputy to Maame Efua Houadjeto, the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority. Santana has pledged his full support to her leadership, acknowledging her vast experience in tourism and hospitality, international trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences.
“I am strongly convinced that her vast expertise will significantly enhance and transform our tourism sector, aligning with the vision of our President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and contributing to the progress of Ghana and its people,” Santana remarked.
Abeiku Santana brings a wealth of academic and professional qualifications to his new position. Born in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana, he pursued his education at Nana Kwaku Boateng Experimental School, Ghana National College, and Ghana Senior High School. He holds a master’s degree in Tourism Management from the University of Cape Coast, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and another master’s degree from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). Additionally, he is an Associate in Legal Studies and Litigation from New York Paralegal School and holds an advanced certificate in Public Relations and Advertising from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
With his experience in tourism, Abeiku Santana aims to introduce new strategies and partnerships to boost the industry. His appointment is expected to strengthen Ghana’s tourism industry and attract more visitors.
