Storm Isha Leads to Hundreds of Flights Canceled at Schiphol & Dublin Airports

Today, nearly 130 arriving and departing flights at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport have been cancelled due to strong winds caused by storm Isha. The cancellations have affected thousands of travelers, leading to delays and disruptions in flight schedules.

Dutch airline KLM, the main user of the airport, has grounded 65 European flights for Monday so far. The storm has not only affected the Netherlands but also other European countries such as the United Kingdom and Ireland. Airlines cancelled 102 flights from and to Dublin Airport on Sunday, with more than 24 flights being grounded and 27 flights diverting to other airports.

The Irish Met Office issued a yellow wind warning and a red warning for coastal areas, advising against visits to these areas. Similarly, the Met Office in the UK issued a red warning for the north-east coast of Scotland due to extremely strong winds. The storm has caused power cuts in the UK, leading to school closures in Shetland.

Network Rail has imposed speed limits on most lines and suspended train services as a safety measure. ScotRail services have been suspended, with dozens of lines closed due to fallen trees and flooding. Travelers to Europe are advised to purchase travel insurance to protect themselves from unexpected expenses such as delayed flights.
