To bring your family to Germany, they will need a family reunion VISA, essentially a type of resident permit that allows family members from non-European countries to reside with you for the duration of your study in Germany.

The eligible family members who can join you in Germany while you are studying there on a student VISA include your minor children, parents, and spouse. However, there are certain preconditions that must be met to bring your family members to Germany while you are studying there.

The application process for a German Family Reunion VISA can be done from abroad by submitting an application to the German embassy or through a residence permit application on a family basis.

When applying for a German Family Reunion VISA, you must provide a range of documents, including German Visa Application forms, security questionnaires, passport copies, residency proof in Germany, and more.

If you want to bring your spouse or child to Germany, you will need to provide various documents to meet the eligibility requirements. The process for bringing a child to Germany also requires specific documentation, including birth certificates, school records, and marriage certificates for yourself.

It is important to note that the German Family Reunion VISA processing time can take 6-8 weeks, with an application cost of €75 for adults and €37.5 for minors.

With the right qualifications, family members on a Family Reunion VISA can work in Germany. Additionally, you can extend the family reunion residence permit, but the application must be made 4-6 weeks before the expiration of the existing German Residence Permit.

Bringing your family to Germany while studying there is possible, and with the right documentation and understanding of the process, you can make your dream of studying in Germany alongside your loved ones a reality.
