Welcome to the Legon Botanical Gardens, where oxygen is so pure and refreshing! The whole ambience is cool and serene, laden with activities for the whims of visitors. One can just choose to have a personal reflective walk or romantic walk on the grounds, whilst assuring ‘bae’ of an unrelenting love. l promise, your love life gets a mega boost!
To the bird lovers, you can certainly satisfy your needs here. The Vaughan Dam houses varieties of birds, which are delight to the senses. Arm yourself with some binoculars, some drinks and snacks, your notebook would certainly thank you for the information.
Adrenaline Junkies, there’s so much you can do! There is provision for bicycles and tricycles, allowing you to have an individualistic safari ride, whilst enjoying species of wildlife present at the Gardens, ranging from butterflies, squirrels, birds and the like. The high ropes are safe for use, as it is constantly under watch by the guards of the place, plus, you would be safety-belted too.
The Gardens also has a canopy walkway to enjoy the views of Accra, reward yourself with great pictures on the walkway, as moments like these deserve pictorial immortality.
Parents, loosen yourselves a bit! Research has proven that, children learn better whilst having fun. The playground boosts of having a park feel, and it is very safe, friendly and spacious. There are swings, zip lines, web challenge, and ample space for running about. Positioned strategically by the playground, a massively modern summer hut which vends refreshingly hydrating drinks ranging from water to soft drinks, and some snacks. Picnicking is also allowed, so parents can take advantage and treat the family to bonding and eating in the natural outdoors of Mother Nature.
With a friendly staff, the Gardens also sell in-house grown ornamental plants too.
The Gardens are opened to the General Public from Wednesdays to Sundays, and also on holidays, from 9am to 6pm. It is owned by the University of Ghana. It is located on the Haatso – Atomic Road, opposite the Haatso – Agbogba Junction.
